LA PREMIÈRE VISITE DE L'ENFANT CHEZ LE DENTISTE

The child's first visit to the dentist

The first visit to the dentist can be made as soon as the first teeth appear, or at the latest in the following six months, ie around the age of one year. The goal here is not necessarily to treat the child, but rather to familiarize him with the environment of a dental clinic.

For preventive purposes for your child, the dentist will check :

  • The evolution of the growth of its jaws
  • The position of his teeth
  • The position of his tongue when swallowing
  • Speech, chewing and aesthetic problems

From the age of 3, the following treatments can be performed :

  • Teeth scaling
  • Polishing
  • Fluoride applications
  • Installation of sealants (around the age of 6): Pits and fissures sealant is the application of a thin layer of resin in the grooves of molars and premolars, without anesthesia. This protects your child from cavities.

The earlier the first visit, the better the chances of preventing dental problems. If you suspect the presence of cavities in your child, or if his siblings have already had it, do not hesitate to consult the dentist.
