Dental veneers

For a harmonious and personalized smile

The dental veneers are thin porcelain shells or composite that are deposited on the exposed surface of the teeth for the purpose of correcting its imperfections. At Anjou Dental Center, we can, in one or 2 sessions depending on the case, embellish the appearance of your smile in a significant and lasting way.

Dental veneers are a good solution to camouflage or correct some unsightly tooth problems such as :

  • Misalignment of teeth
  • Worn, fractured and / or deformed teeth
  • Stained or discolored teeth
  • The spaces between the teeth

For more information, you can consult our section dedicated to the aesthetics of the smile.

The porcelain veneer

Unlike the dental crown which covers the entire tooth, the porcelain veneer is placed on its visible surface. As thin as a contact lens, the porcelain veneer requires a less invasive technique during the preparatory phase, that is to say, that the natural tooth will be cut only very lightly, thus retaining more of its natural structure.

1
First session

During this first session, there will be little or no anesthesia. Once the tooth (s) have been prepared, a dental impression is taken in order to make custom veneers according to the desired shade and shape. With our state-of-the-art equipment, our lab technicians will fabricate the porcelain shells on-site so you can access your ideal smile in less than a week. The making of veneers consists, among other things, in imitating the appearance of tooth enamel to help recreate the translucency and shine of natural teeth.

2
Second session

The second session is devoted to fitting, adjustments and finally, the placement of dental veneers. Before definitively cementing the veneers, a try-in is required to make the necessary adjustments in shape and color for more precision. For cementing, the dentist will take care to choose a dental glue with a shade suitable for your teeth to make your veneers very resistant and solid. Finally, the veneers will be polished for a flawless finish.

The porcelain veneers are its composition and its production, more stain-resistant, stronger, more durable and above all more aesthetic than composite veneers. They last on average 10 years and even more depending on the patient's hygiene and consumption habits.

The composite veneer

The composite veneer consists of the application of a white plastic resin to the front of the tooth. It is available in several shades to mimic the color of a natural tooth.

1
At the start of treatment

Your dentist will prime the tooth surface with a mild chemical solution that will make the enamel more porous to facilitate adhesion of the composite. During application, this resin is malleable, so your dentist will give it the desired shape and thickness by shaping it directly on the tooth. Once this step is completed, he will fix the restoration by a curing process using a curing light. A final polish is necessary to give it a natural appearance. The composite veneer is performed in one visit and can be used to correct minor tooth defects only. It lasts on average 5 years, according to the hygiene and consumption habits of the patient.

It is less resistant than porcelain and tends to degrade and stain easily.
